The Opportunity:
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced OperatorForeman who is responsible for operating heavy equipment as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations as mandated by Mortenson safety policies and procedures. Plans, organizes, and directs operators based on the project and state and federal requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience in operating a variety of heavy equipment for effective leadership and decision-making
- Supervise, coordinate and direct work of Operators
- Follow prescribed safety regulations
- Ensure that all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area
- Perform routine maintenance to include lubricating, fueling and cleaning
- Establish and adjust work sequences to meet schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel
- Assist in schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
- Analyze and resolve work problems
- Ensure crew timecards are filled out and turned in
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
- Daily Work Logs
- Oversight of trade partners
- Weekly SWPPP Inspections
- Engage in daily foreman meetings
- Calculate and report daily production and quantities
- All other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Strong teamwork orientation and detail orientation.
- Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
- Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals and maneuver steering wheel to operator equipment
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
- Knowledge of equipment and their uses. Ability to work independently
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Qualifications:
- Equipment certifications
- Minimum two years of related experience; commercial or site development infrastructure experience (preferred)
- Current driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law.
Physical requirements:
- Repetitive Hand/Arm/Leg Movements
- Lifting/Carrying/ Pushing
- *Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs. will be done with assistance of another team member or equipment.
